2 Implementation Status and Key Decisions Following the approval of the project restructuring on June 29, 2016, there has been some positive improvements towards achieving the PDO and with Implementation Progress, in particular in the speed with which new contracts were awarded in June and July However, during the course of FY2017, insufficient progress has been made with completing all the remaining original transmission substation contracts (awarded in 2012) and the scheduled progress milestones under the new contracts that used the $52 million in project savings (awarded in June & July 2017). A formal project implementation support mission will take place in July 2017 and will involve extensive site visits and a critical re-assessment of whether all remaining project activities will be completed before the June 30, 2018 closing date. The implementation support mission concluded that an additional extension of the closing date will be needed to allow the completion of the preparation of the Poko Hydropower component. The Bank asked PLN to send a letter to MOF requesting an extension to the project closing date, from June 30, 2018 to October 31, /28/2017 Page 2 of 12
