Received $10,214 Escrow from the Program, $80,000 Additional Down Payment Assistance Juan Velasquez enrolled in the Section 8 Family Self- Sufficiency Program and completed his goals within a 5 year period. He then graduated from the FSS Program and received an FSS escrow check for $10,214. He used $10,000 to receive a 3 to 1 match of $30,000 for down payment assistance from the City of Oxnard Homebuyer Loan Program. Mr. Velasquez also received $35,000 of down payment assistance from the Neighborhood Stabilization Program, and $15,000 from the City of Oxnard I.D.A. Program. He ultimately was able to purchase a rehabilitated home from the Neighborhood Stabilization Program and became a homeowner! Congratulations to Mr. Velasquez for completing his goals and successfully graduating from the FSS Program.! 3 N E W S L E T T E R P A G E 3 City of Oxnard Affordable Housing & Rehabilitation Division The City of Oxnard Affordable Housing & Rehabilitation Division has a down payment assistance program for the purchase of a single-family residence, condominium unit, cooperative unit, or manufactured homes that meet HUD conventional gudelines. The City of Oxnard will provide a loan of up to $25,000 funded by CDBG or $30,000 funded by Cal- HOME. For a CDBG loan, the term of the loan is 5 years if the loan amount is up to $15,000 and 10 years if the loan is more than $15,000. For Cal-HOME, the term of the loan is 30 years with a 3% simple interest that will be accumulating annually. Requirements are as follow: The buyer must be an Oxnard resident, all household members must be legal residents of the U.S., they buyer must be a first-time homebuyer, attend a homebuyer course, and meet the low income guidelines. Also, the property must pass inspection conducted by the Division s Inspector. Her office is located at 1500 Camino Del Sol, in the Multi- Service Center, and she can be reached at (805) Development Resources (CDR), La Escuelita (CDI), Integrity Filing Empowerment Program, Ventura County Youth Soccer League, and the Colonia Village Tenant Association. There is also a computer lab available for all residents to use. It really doesn't matter the size of your next step. The following organizations call the Multi-Service Center home: The City of Oxnard Colonia Branch Library, City Impact Inc., Children Services, Boys & Girls Club Youth What really matters is the direction. JOIN THE FSS PROGRAM! It is very easy to become a participant of this incredible program. First, make the call, set up an appointment with Jaime Arellano, ( ) or Francisco J. Barajas, ( ) listen to all the opportunities afforded to you in this program, feel free to ask questions, and once your questions have been answered, SIGN UP! Take full advantage of saving money while you pay your regular rent, because nothing extra comes out of your pocket. On the contrary, you will receive a great number of services to help you along the way. You can finish your education, join a training program and add to your skills set, earn more money, be your own boss, and own your own home! Do not wait and call today!
