2 About this booklet The information in this booklet forms part of the Product Disclosure Statement for AustralianSuper Select prepared on 26 May It is specific to employees of Thomson Geer as the contributing employer sponsor. About your insurance Types of cover There are three types of cover available for Thomson Geer employees: Death Total & Permanent Disablement (TPD) Income Protection Designed to provide your dependants with money to live on or to repay your debts and financial expenses. TPD cover may provide you with a lump sum payout if you become totally and permanently disabled and can no longer work. Provides a monthly income for up to two years to help you get back on your feet. Other benefit payment periods are available. You re also covered for terminal illness if you have Death or TPD cover. 3 Your insurance category As an employee of Thomson Geer you automatically get a basic level of insurance cover on a Low Risk work rating. The type of insurance cover you re eligible for depends on your employment as shown in the table below. limits apply. Insurance category Your employment Basic Death and TPD cover Basic Income Protection 1 Permanent employees with Income Protection cover outside of AustralianSuper Salary-based cover Cover stops at age 65 2 Permanent employees Salary-based cover Cover stops at age 65 No cover. See your employer before applying for extra Income Protection with AustralianSuper. Salary-based cover Two year benefit period 60 day waiting period Cover stops at 70 3 Casual employees -based cover -based cover Basic cover Two year benefit period 60 day waiting period How your basic cover is calculated will depend on your insurance category. Category 1: For permanent employees with Income Protection cover outside of AustralianSuper Your basic cover is salary-based and your employer informs us of your salary to calculate your Death and TPD cover. Category 2: For permanent employees Your basic cover is salary-based and your employer informs us of your salary to calculate your Death, TPD and Income Protection cover. Calculating salary-based cover Death and TPD 15% x your salary x future years (and complete months) of service to age 65 Income Protection 85%* x your monthly salary * 75% is paid to you and up to 10% to your super 3
4 Category 3: Casual employees Your basic Death, TPD and Income Protection cover is age-based and your cover amount will change as you get older. Your Income Protection payments can t be greater than 85% of your monthly salary* (up to 75% is paid to you and up to 10% to your super). 5 When your basic cover increases in line with your salary If your basic cover is salary-based your cover may increase or decrease if your salary changes (as provided by your employer). Your basic cover can increase up to the automatic limits shown in the table below and you won t have to provide detailed health information, as long as you re at work and eligible for cover. We ll write to you if your basic cover has reached the automatic limit(s). To increase your basic cover above the automatic limit(s) in line with your salary, you ll need to provide detailed health information and be assessed by the Insurer. Automatic limits Insurance Category Death and TPD Income Protection 1 $800,000 n/a 2 $800,000 $10,000 a month Your work rating We provide three different work ratings Standard, Low Risk and Professional. While you re employed by Thomson Geer and insured through your AustralianSuper Select account, you have a Low Risk category work rating. Your individual work rating is Standard unless you apply to change it. If you leave Thomson Geer you ll keep your insurance with us and your individual work rating.
