7 *Case grade will reflect not only content, but also presentation of material including GSP (one point deduction for every GSP error). Refer to any good writing manual. Cases must be spiral bound and tabbed. Cases turned in late will receive a 10-point deduction for every class day until the case is turned in. **Case participation grade will be determined by an in-class survey of all group members based on the student s ability to work in teams, the student s ability to manage time, and the student s attention to detail. ***Students who fail the course with little to no effort (excessive absenteeism and/or missing tests/exams without notification) will receive a U which might jeopardize their financial aid. Course Policies Policy on returning tests/exams Tests and exams cover material in the book as well as material covered in lecture. I use the tests for evaluation purposes only; therefore, I do not return tests or the final exam. I return results of each test or exam as soon as possible. I will be happy to review specific questions regarding the tests with students during office hours. Students can obtain the results of the final exam and the course via TRACS. Policy on making-up tests/exams--students may not make-up Test #1 or Test #2; however, students who miss either of these tests for a legitimate and documented reason will have those points transferred to the comprehensive final exam. In the event a student misses the final exam for a legitimate and documented reason, I will arrange a make-up final exam at a time and place mutually acceptable. Policy on cases--i expect students to work on the case in groups of 4-5 students. The purpose of casework is to reinforce skills learned in the classroom by applying the skills to a practical situation. I encourage students to discuss the case with other students, faculty, and with preceptors at internship sites; however, the final product must be the work of the students in the group. Groups turning in the work of others outside their group will be charged with academic dishonesty and will receive an "F" in the course. Groups must submit their cases to Turnitin and include the originality report with their cases. After the group rosters have been submitted, students may only leave the group if they drop the class or withdraw from the University. Policy on class attendance--i encourage class attendance by taking roll at each class meeting. If I think that attendance is waning or if I think that students are coming to class unprepared, I reserve the right to administer unannounced quizzes. Policy on disruptive behavior--students who disrupt the class will be asked to leave the class and not return until they have met with me. Examples of disruptive behavior include, but are not limited to, talking during class, cell phones/beepers going off during class, and arriving late to class or leaving early from class. Policy on calculators--i require students to use a HP 10-B or HP 10-BII in this class. The only calculator students may use during tests and final exam is a HP 10 or 10BII. Students may not share calculators during tests or exams. Policy on restricted use of notes and materials: My lectures are protected by copyright law. They are my own original expression and I record them at the time that I deliver them in order to bring them under the protection of the U.S. copyright laws. Although you are authorized to take notes in class and create derivative work from my lecture, the authorization extends only to making one set of notes for your own personal use and distribution to one other student (mass distribution is not authorized). You are not authorized to record my lectures, to provide your notes to more than one other student, or to make commercial use of them without my expressed prior permission.
