3 Troop 912 Suggested Campout Equipment Checklist Remember NO portable electronic equipment may be brought Recommended Items: Boy Scout Handbook Plenty of seasonal jackets, shirts, pants, socks, shorts, and underwear for the number of days that you will be out. One change of clothes for each day is recommended. As a minimum, you need replacements in case you get wet. Wool socks with a liner are best in freezing weather. Wool absorbs water and the liner wicks water off your feet. Tent It is your responsibility to make sure you have place to sleep (You may share with another Scout if prearranged.) Two Small Tarps - One for a ground cloth and one to cover your tent in case it leaks. Sleeping Bag or Blanket (Depending on the season.) You can take a warmer rating bag and make it a colder rated bag by placing a fleece inside. Mess Kit; Utensils, and Cup Several Large Plastic Trash Bags Pack your clothes for each day in a separate trash bag. You also have a readily available dirty clothes bag or a trash bag if your patrol needs one. Two Pair (at least) of Shoes or Boots (Wet feet are no fun!) Boots must be worn Friday night when we leave for the campout! Hat (seasonal) Raingear (Good raingear is important to staying dry) Towel Washcloth Soap in a Soapbox Toilet Paper in a Plastic Bag Toothbrush - Toothpaste Flashlight with extra batteries Water Canteen or Water Bottle Pocket Knife with a Totin Chip Card (Remember, you may not use a pocket knife, ax, etc. until you have and carry a Totin Chip Card ) Personal First Aid Kit Insect Repellent (Depending on the season. Note some insect repellants can damage the waterproofing on tents.) Sunscreen Seasonal Gloves Personal Sewing Kit 30 of Utility or Parachute Cord A good attitude to work on the campout theme Optional Items: Sleeping Pad Camera Stool or Chair Watch Compass Whistle Matches Money for Gift Shop(s) Remember, it might rain and you might get wet. You can last for a while being wet and you can last for a while being cold, but you cannot last very long being wet and cold. Be Prepared! It is always easier to take it off if you have it than to put it on if you do not have it. Check your tents for leaks while you are home. Waterproof seams as necessary.
