1 (Set up by an Act of Parliament) Chairman s Communiqué E-NEWSLETTER (FEBRUARY 2018) Respected Members Choose a job you love, and you will never have to work a day in your life. I choose this month to start this edition of the communiqué from the Chairman s desk with wisdom from Confucius. Time flies, they say, and this is evident from the fact that the first month of the New Year is already past us. Amongst the many activities in January at the branch I wish to specifically highlight the program on RERA. I m proud to say that in January, probably for the first time ever, we were able to bring so many trade bodies and professional associations on one stage. Apart from Goa Branch ICAI and Goa Chamber of Commerce and Industry (GCCI) who were joint-hosts, we had the participation of Confederation of Real Estate Developers Association of India (CREDAI) Goa Chapter, Goa Association of Realtors (GAR), Institute of Engineers of India (IEI) Goa chapter and Indian Institute of Architects (IIA) Goa Chapter. We also had Shri. Sudhir Mahajan representing the RERA authority. Commensurate to the coming together of these bodies was the extraordinary turnout for the program and the great reception it received from those that attended. Details of this and other programs of the month are in the pages of this newsletter. The month of February brings us the much awaited event of the Central Budget which will be presented on 1 st February. The country awaits with bated breath and great expectation for the changes in tax laws as well as to sense the development that the Government seeks to undertake. As always the Goa Branch will organise a programme that will provide a definitive analysis of the proposed tax law changes in the coming days. The Institute offers a variety of post qualification certificate courses that can provide real value addition and a new skill set to CAs.
