1 STOCK MARKET REPORT FOR NOVEMBER 13 TH, 2015 EQUITIES A turnover of billion shares worth N billion in 14,992 deals were traded this week by investors on the floor of The Exchange in contrast to a total of billion shares valued at N billion that exchanged hands last week in 15,762 deals. The Financial Services Industry (measured by volume) led the activity chart with billion shares valued at N billion traded in 8,406 deals; thus contributing 71.90% and 62.21% to the total equity turnover volume and value respectively. The Oil and Gas Industry followed with million shares worth N1.839 billion in 1,680 deals. The third place was occupied by the Conglomerates Industry with a turnover of million shares worth N million in 938 deals. Trading in the Top Three Equities namely Access Bank Plc, Guaranty Trust Bank Plc and Beco Petroleum Plc.(measured by volume) accounted for billion shares worth N billion in 1,954 deals, contributing 50.11% and % to the total equity turnover volume and value respectively. SKYE BANK PLC: NOTIFICATION OF PENALTY- Skye Bank Plc ( Skye Bank or the Bank ) notified The Nigerian Stock Exchange that the Bank has received a letter reference No GVD/GOV/CON/CMB/14/057 dated 6 November 2015 from the Central Bank of Nigeria ( CBN ) wherein the CBN imposed a penalty of N4bn on the Bank for failing to render appropriate returns on some MDA moneys as required by the CBN s communication dated 14 October The Bank however has clarified that it did not at any time conceal any information from the CBN as adjudged in its letter. According to the Bank, a significant portion of the moneys for which the penalty was applied are NNPC Pension Funds and National Assembly Legislative Aides account balances. These organs have since been confirmed by the CBN that they are exempted from the TSA based on the nature of their operations and amounts erroneously transferred to the CBN on them by some banks have been refunded. The Bank has commenced engagement with the CBN with a view to bringing these issues to their attention and seeking a review of the penalty imposed and will continue to update The Exchange with developments on the matter.
