Wealth It s hard to accumulate and easily lost Navigating through life s challenges Understanding Knowing the potential risks and having a solid financial plan makes the difference in how you will be able to navigate through life s challenges WHY DO WOMEN NEED TO KNOW? LONGEVITY: Average life span is increasing to 86 years with 34% living beyond age 90. WIDOW: Women are more likely to outlive their husbands. ILLNESS: Women are often in the position to be the primary caretaker. DIVORCE: Emotional and Financial upheaval causes huge uncertainty about your future.
TOP THREE AREAS OF CONCERN: IS MY WEALTH PLAN REALISTIC? IS MY INVESTMENT STRATEGY RIGHT FOR ME? Pre-Retirement: How much and for how long should I be saving? Am I on the right path? Near or in retirement: Do I have enough? What are the risks? What should my savings be invested in? What is the best way to invest? How much risk do / should I have? I don t want to loose money. Should I do it myself or get professional help? HOW DO I KNOW IF I AM RECEIVING GOOD ADVICE? Investment Adviser Tax Accountant Legal Attorney Insurance Agent
Designing a solid wealth plan Essential to meeting your financial goals which support your life plan Address the questions of How much do I need? & How to plan for the unexpected Determine your Spending & Savings patterns Identify Risks: Income, Market, Inflation, Legal, Personal
Annual Checkup Consolidate investment accounts by type Know how much you are saving annually Plan to use Home Equity for end of life support Know how much your portfolio draw is to support you in retirement

The strategy is the engine to grow your wealth plan. It is essential to align your life goals with the right asset mix and risk level. Designing an investment strategy is complex, so the first question to ask is: Is my investment strategy right for me? Purpose Liquid Savings Income and Keeping Pace Strategy Do you have the interest, knowledge, and time to manage your own investments? Money Market Fund Asset Mix 100% Cash 60-80% Bond 40-20% Stock Growth and Retirement Next Generation Conservative Moderate Aggressive 40-60% Bond 60-40% Stock 10-30% Bond 90-70% Stock Time Horizon 0-2 years 2-7 years 7-15 years > 15 years Risk / Volatility 2-5% 4-9% 10-18% 14-24% Return Range 0.5-2% 3-6% 3-10% 3-15%

As much as we want and can DIY, using an expert is sometimes necessary, or at least a good idea. Here are some of the tips when it comes to using a professional (Attorney, Accountant, Investment Adviser, Insurance Agent) to help you with your financial affairs: Do s and Don ts If you don t understand what they are saying, if they cannot adequately explain their own documents find someone who can. Have they taken the time to fully understand your unique situation, or is it a boiler plate/one size fits all? Is the advice in their best interest or yours? What are the ramifications if the advice is wrong? Know the difference between an investment adviser and a broker. How do I know if I am getting good advice? What are you paying for? What are the hidden fees? Don t be shy, ask to have it spelled out.
Wealth Management issues you should know / must have: Legal: Insurance: Accountant: Do I have a will? Trustee, Executor, Financial POA, and Medical POA selected? Must! Do I have designated beneficiaries assigned on ALL retirement accounts and Insurance policies? Must! Do I need a Trust? Depends on size, beneficiary needs, and control. Do I have access to ALL my financial assets? How are the accounts titled? Account numbers and login? Must! What is the specific risk you need to cover? (Loss of income / long term care) Are you over / under insured? Do you know your marginal and average tax rate? Do you understand your taxes? How do I know if I am getting good advice? Investment Adviser: Does your adviser understand your entire Wealth plan? Do you meet at least annually to review / update?
Becoming your own CFO Have a realistic Wealth Plan and update annually Insure your Investment Strategy is aligned with your financial goals and risk tolerance Surround yourself with a solid "A" team of professionals to get the advice you need Have your house in order: Legal, Tax, Insurance, Investments. Access to ALL your financial assets
