3 Exchange Traded Funds FutureBenefits of America combines the best of all worlds: diversified investment options, fiduciary solutions, and fully disclosed fees. Fiduciary Solutions A plan sponsor can appoint an investment Manager, as defined in ERISA section 3(38). This investment Manager is solely responsible for prudently selecting and monitoring the investment options offered in a retirement plan. This process allows for the legal transfer of personal risk from the Plan Sponsor to the ERISA 3(38) investment Manager. The Program offers options utilizing a professional money manager, which is available on our platform, for a nominal fee, whereby the Plan Sponsor can legally transfer the personal risk associated with being a Plan investment Fiduciary to an independent investment adviser that is called an ERISA 3(38) investment Manager. The ERISA 3(38) investment Manager will then have legal responsibility to select and monitor the investment options and models made available to the Plan. What about unitized funds? Collective and unitized funds are created using the underlying ETF as well as a cash vehicle to provide daily liquidity and reduce the cost of trading. Administrative and audit fees are then charged against this fund, while commissions and trading fees are netted out of trades. The combination of liquidity drag, expenses, and trading fees can cause the fund performance to substantially deviate from the actual performance of the ETF. The process of owning shares gives the retirement plan participant the same benefits of ready liquidity and reduced costs without the performance lag. Quick Facts 1. US Census Bureau estimates there are 15 million self employed individuals as of 2002 census. 2. Nearly 600,000 new small businesses are established each year, according to the US Small Business Administration 3. DOL states only 44% of small employers sponsor a retirement plan 4. Less than 50% of employers with less than 100 employees sponsor a 401k ( DOL 2005) 5. 50% of small business owners who sponsor plans said it had a major impact on hiring and retaining employees (DOL 2005) Built on customer satisfaction and keeping our promises - Investment Options What ETF s are available? Currently, all ETFs that are tradable through the NSCC are available. This includes ishares, Vanguard, SPDR, and PowerShares. Why use ETF s instead of Mutual funds? ETFs make an advisors life easier. Count the number of times you, the advisor, removed mutual funds due to Investment Policy Statement (IPS) violations such as style drift, mutual fund trading scandals, operating expense increases, fund manager changes, poor performance vs. the benchmark (an index), shortterm trading fees, and finally, hidden SubTA or SSA fees. Can I develop an internal model? Yes. Specific strategies may be implemented. You can create models that use all ETFs or even models containing a mix of ETFs and mutual funds. Quick Fact We believe words still mean something. Under current Labor Department rules, if the investment Adviser representative (IAR) is also acting as a fiduciary to the plan, he or she cannot encourage a plan participant to roll over assets with the IAR. This is because the rollover would be technically considered a prohibited transaction. It is recommended that the plan sponsor outsource the investment selection process to an independent third party, namely an ERISA 3(38) investment manager. This will free up the IAR to do what they do best. Concentrate on non-fiduciary services such as: rollovers, enrollment meetings, plan design, and managing the retirement plan relationship. FutureBenefits of America Multiple Employer Plans (MEP) FutureBenefits of America is a Multiple Employer Plan (MEP) provider aiming to deliver cost effective retirement solutions for small plans using the economies of scale created by leveraging multiple unrelated employers under one custodial account. A growing market trend, FutureBenefits of America has been successfully offering record keeping and administrative services for Multiple Employer Plans (MEP (not to be confused with multiemployer plans )) for over 10 years now. A MEP is a structure which enables UN- RELATED plan sponsors to participate under ONE qualified plan trust to achieve the economies of scale and subsequent cost savings, benefit enhancements and fiduciary consulting typically realized only by larger plans. An MEP has one Trust, One Custodian, One Investment Menu, One Master Plan for Multiple Unrelated Plan Sponsors with Multiple Plan designs. This results in reduced implementation fees, reduced documentation fees, simplifies plan adoption via the Participant Agreement, realization of decelerating asset based fees, and more.
