1 UK EVENTS SCHEDULE SEPTEMBER - DECEMBER 2010 Events that address and explain hot topics, key issues and the latest industry developments.
2 LCP UK events schedule September - December 2010 Register online at WHAT S ON September - December 2010 S Executive pensions Pension risk Risk benefits Auto-enrolment CONFERENCES LCP Annual Pensions Conference 2010 REMINDER LCP Annual Pensions Conference 2010 Tuesday 28 September Venue: The InterContinental Hotel, London, UK Delivering pensions in a new era of austerity As we leave behind the Noughties along with the credit crunch, financial crisis and a change of UK government, trustees and sponsors of pension schemes are drawing breath before the next wave of change. Our annual pensions conference takes stock of where we are and looks forward to 2011, 2012 and beyond. Please visit for full details. Executive pensions Thursday 4 November 2010 Thursday 25 November 2010 Thursday 16 December 2010 This briefing is appropriate for Finance Directors, Pension Managers, Human Resources or anyone closely involved in pension changes for higher income individuals. What effect will the proposed annual allowance approach have on your employees? On 22 June 2010 the Chancellor announced proposals for an annual allowance, set somewhere between 30,000 and 45,000, to reduce the cost of tax relief on pension savings to the Treasury by at least 3.5 billion a year. The Treasury will confirm the level of the annual allowance and other provisions of the tax regime by the end of September We recommend that all employers who have employees affected should review their pension benefit policy now. Changes will need to be introduced from April 2011 and will need careful communication before then. This breakfast briefing will explain in detail the proposed annual allowance approach, what the potential consequences are and the possible solutions available to ensure that pensions continue to be delivered in a practical and tax-efficient way. Pension risk Thursday 14 October 2010 This briefing is appropriate for Non-Executive Directors, Chief Executives, Finance Directors and other senior corporate decision-makers. How would your scheme cope in a changing economic environment? Pension scheme risk poses a huge challenge to companies. Falling stock markets, lower interest rates, inflation, deflation, increasing life expectancies and changing legislation are all real threats. How are companies measuring these risks, assessing their contribution to the overall risk profile of the business and ensuring that they are appropriately managed? This breakfast briefing answers these questions, by looking at existing risk assessment measures, including Value at Risk, scenario analysis and stresstesting, and considering whether these techniques are fit for purpose. Practical case studies from the UK and internationally will illustrate how companies have monitored, disentangled and ultimately mitigated the risks that they face.
3 LCP UK events schedule September - December 2010 Register online at TO REGISTER (0) (0) Nelly Geudin, LCP 30 Old Burlington Street, London, W1S 3NN, UK Risk benefits Wednesday 20 October 2010 This briefing is appropriate for Finance Directors, HR Managers and Benefits/Compensation Managers. Life, disability and healthcare benefits: are they working for you? Risk benefits such as life assurance, disability benefits and private healthcare benefits are an important part of the employee benefit package and an employer s wellbeing programme. We have recently undertaken a survey to explore the factors that are currently influencing employers disability and healthcare packages. We will present the results of our research providing an insight into employers views, attitudes and concerns to enable you to compare and contrast your own view and position. The briefing will also highlight some of the key challenges employers face in this area including: The possible significant tax changes to the provision of ill health retirement pensions and the possible need to reconsider such arrangements urgently. The position on risk benefits of the expected removal of the right to retire employees at age 65. Death benefit options for high earners. Auto-enrolment Tuesday 26 October 2010 Thursday 18 November 2010 Tuesday 7 December 2010 This briefing is appropriate for Finance Directors, Chief Executives, HR Directors, Pensions Managers and Chair of Trustees. Auto-enrolment - issues and options Most of the legislative framework is now in place for the introduction of the employer duty to auto-enrol employees into a qualifying workplace pension arrangement from October This may still seem a long way off but many employers could have a nasty surprise in store in the shape of increased pension costs and/or an increased administrative burden. In addition, for the first time UK employers will be forced to contribute to a pension scheme for their employees. This breakfast briefing will look at the key issues you need to consider including: Whether your existing schemes meet the quality requirements? Where they do not, what are the actions and costs involved? Whether to use an existing scheme as the auto-enrolment vehicle? Where the scheme is generous and/or has a low take-up rate, this may be costly. Whether to change the design of existing schemes to mitigate the increased costs flowing from auto-enrolment? Whether to use the new National Employment Savings Trust ( NEST ) scheme as the auto-enrolment vehicle or some other, potentially more flexible, alternative?
