3 Professional Certifications and Licenses In January 2015, questions were added to the monthly Current Population Survey Certifications and licenses are credentials that demonstrate a level of skill or knowledge needed to perform a specific type of job. 10 Veterans Monthly 8,000 to 9,000 veteran respondents age 18 and over per month. 11 How do we define veterans? Veterans are men and women who served on active duty in the U.S. Armed Forces and were civilians at the time of the survey. Members of the Reserve and National Guard are counted as veterans if they have ever been called to active duty by a Presidential Order. 41 What is a contingent worker? Contingent workers are those who do not have an explicit or implicit contract for long-term employment.
