GRIGGS Senior Vice President-Wealth Management Portfolio Manager As a fully licensed investment professional for more than 30 years at the firm, Steve implements wealth management strategies for clients by concentrating on portfolio management and construction. A student of investing, he enjoys developing and implementing both sector and security specific investment ideas. As a graduate of the highly selective portfolio management program, he focuses on equity research, portfolio strategies and new business-planning/development for the team. Steve is firmly committed to long-term relationships and strives to deliver exceptional client service. He listens carefully to client's goals, values, aspirations and concerns; based on this input, tempered with his experience, he works attentively to help them achieve their financial objectives. CHARLES W. HARTMAN, CFP Second Vice President-Wealth Management Financial Advisor Chuck brings an unusual combination of professional experience and training as a project engineer, corporate finance professional and business development executive for several Fortune 500 companies. This varied background enables Chuck to develop customized investment and risk management strategies and advise high-networth clients with a unique perspective in wealth management. As an alumnus of the Pennsylvania State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Industrial Engineering and a Master of Business Administration from Northeastern University, Chuck continues to expand his learning. He is a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER, has traveled extensively throughout the developing world and is very knowledgeable about international business. Steve is a lifelong resident of Williamsburg and an avid outdoorsman and golfer. He also enjoys reading, travel, working on his yard and visiting with his three children at college. Steve is also a perennial member of the companies prestigious Chairman s Council and is listed in the Top Advisor s in Virginia. Chuck s hobbies include skiing, traveling and golf. He is married to Sally, his wife of twenty years, and has two active teenagers. They have lived in Williamsburg for the past 16 years. MCKINLEY Senior Client Service Associate John focuses his talents on serving the lending and investment needs of our business owner clients. While working as a small business specialist for a national bank, John recognized his passion for helping people make the right choices so that they could be financially independent later in life. He is responsible for designing and implementing retirement plans that help our clients attain the retirement lifestyle they aspire. He also works with corporations and their employees in choosing the most suitable retirement investments. Becky is Series 7 registered and has been with the firm since She is the first point of contact for our group. She helps clients with all aspects of their account service needs and coordinates the group's over all day-to-day operations. Outside of the office, Becky is a professional singer, active throughout Hampton Roads. She is currently a member of the Virginia Chorale, Norfolk and soloist with the Williamsburg Presbyterian Church and the Temple Sinai, Portsmouth. Becky and her husband Charles live in Newport News, VA, and have three grown children. John graduated from the College of William and Mary in 1997, earning a Bachelor of Arts degree in Public Policy. He and his wife, Cathy, live in Williamsburg, where they are raising their three children. Cathy grew up in Williamsburg and is a co-owner of a family business here. 7 STEP 1. SETTING YOUR FINANCIAL OBJECTIVES We'll begin our relationship by asking questions a lot of questions. Like what you want to do with your life, the things you want to have, and whether you d like to pass any of your wealth to others. We'll ask about your current financial resources, your time horizon for various goals, your tolerance for risk even how your liabilities are structured. If you re a business owner, we also might discuss your current banking and cash-management needs. STEP 2. DEVELOPING YOUR WEALTH MANAGEMENT STRATEGY Based on your input, our recommendations will likely address income and retirement planning, asset protection, investment management, strategic borrowing, wealth transfer and business succession. Of course, your plan will include an asset allocation strategy designed to achieve a return in line with your risk tolerance and investment time horizon. STEP 3. IMPLEMENTING YOUR PLAN After presenting you with a detailed strategy for your portfolio, we work closely with you to bring the elements to life. Should we decide that outside money managers are appropriate for you, we will rely on our research to select from the hundreds of investment-management firms competing for your business. Or perhaps you'd prefer individual securities; if so, we can identify specific stocks, bonds and other securities that would be suitable for your portfolio. 9 Making Plans: We Will Do Them Together Smart planning starts with asking the appropriate questions and knowing where to find the answers. We know that reaching your goals requires a sound financial plan one you ll stick to when short-term worries and temptations threaten to cloud your judgment. We ll begin the planning process with a discussion of your goals and concerns. What do you want to do with your money? What do you want to have? What do you want to give to others? Retirement analysis Your plan will identify how much you may need to have at retirement, and whether it will be enough to support you. We ll detail your sources of income and specify how much you ll need to save to overcome any projected shortfall.
