1 Open Enrollment for 2017 Port-sponsored Benefit Plans Step-by-step guide to using HCM In past years, if you did not make an election in HCM, you would receive default coverage. This year, if you do not make an election, your medical/dental plan(s) for 2016 will be your plan(s) for 2017 for you and any covered family members. Except for the situations described in the next paragraph, you only need to make an election if you want to change plans or add/remove family members from your coverage. If you need to add or remove a family member after open enrollment closes, you will need to submit a hard copy enrollment form to the Total Rewards staff in HR. Please note: If you do not make an election and you completed the Wellness Program requirements last year, but not this year, you will remain enrolled in the same plan with the same family coverage. However, your premium will increase unless you elect to change to a less expensive plan (if possible), drop dependents or waive coverage. Conversely, if you do not make an election and you did not complete the Wellness Program last year, but did complete it this year, you will remain enrolled in the same plan with the same family member coverage and you will see a premium reduction. Overview: 1. Log on to PeopleSoft HCM using the same credentials you use to log in to Windows. Use the PeopleSoft HCM Time/HR Self Svc quick link available on the Compass home page. 2. Once logged on to HCM, click Benefits Enrollment in the Work Center. 3. Review the instructions, and then click the Select button. 4. Review the instructions and the Enrollment summary section. Click the Edit button at the end of each option for which you want to make a change or election. If no change is needed to medical or dental, you do not need to click the Edit button. Please note: Employees covered by the Port s medical and dental plan will see up to five options: Medical, Dental, Flexible Spending Health Care, Flexible Spending Dependent Care and Health Savings Account. Employees who receive their medical and/or dental benefits (if any) from their union will see only the two Flexible Spending Account options since their open enrollment process is not managed by the Port. Interns or non-represented (non-union) emergency hires will only see a medical option. Click the Edit buttons to make your election. 5. Review the instructions. Select the option you wish to enroll in by clicking the small circle in front of the plan name. 6. Scroll down and review the instructions to enroll your family members. To add new dependents, click the Add/Review Dependents button. Check the Enroll box next to the name of each dependent you would like to enroll. When you are finished, click Continue. 7. Review the summary of your election. Click Discard Changes to make changes. Click Update Elections to store your choices. Enrollment through HCM 1 of 11
2 8. Complete the same process for the remaining options. Once you have finished making your elections, click the Continue button. 9. You will be taken to the Submit Benefit Choices page. Review the instructions. Click Cancel if you need to make more changes. To finalize your elections, click the Submit button. 10. You will be taken to the Submit Confirmation page, click OK. 11. Click OK to receive your confirmation statement. 12. You will now see your Event Status has changed to Submitted. Detailed Steps on Enrolling for Benefits in HCM 1. 5 4. Review the instructions and the Enrollment summary section. Employees covered by the Port s medical and dental plan will see up to five options: Medical, Dental, Flexible Spending Health Care, Flexible Spending Dependent Care and Health Savings Account. Employees who receive their medical and/or dental benefits (if any) from their union will see only the two Flexible Spending Account options since their open enrollment process is not managed by the Port. Interns or non-represented (non-union) emergency hires will only see a medical option Click the Edit buttons at the end of each option for which you want to make a change or election. For this example we will make a medical election: Enrollment through HCM 5 of 11
