3 Eligibility Standards Medicaid programs must follow federal guidelines, but they vary somewhat from state to state. In general for this benefit program, you must be a U.S. national, citizen, legal alien or permanent resident, and have low income. You must also be a resident of the state of Colorado. 5 Health First Colorado What Does Health First Colorado Cost? Health First Colorado is public health insurance for low-income Coloradans who qualify. You might have to pay a small copay to receive some services, unless you fall into a specific category. Copays vary depending on the service. If you are 18 years old or younger, pregnant, or are an American Indian or Alaska Native, you do not pay copays.

6 Health First Colorado What Does Health First Colorado Cost? If you are a qualifying former foster care youth, you only pay copays for prescription drugs. If you reside in a nursing facility, you typically do not have to pay copays. Click here to see a list of copays per service.

9 Health First Colorado What Information is Needed If you are applying for Health First Colorado programs for people over the age of 65 and/or for people with disabilities, you might also be asked to provide information including: Whether you have a medical condition that has seriously limited your ability to do daily activities for at least a year Whether you need help with daily activities, such as dressing, eating, and bathing

10 Health First Colorado What Information is Needed If you are applying for Health First Colorado programs for people over the age of 65 and/or for people with disabilities, you might also be asked to provide information including: Any health care coverage received through Medicare Unearned income, such as Social Security Administration (SSA) or Supplemental Security Income (SSI) payments and pensions You might be asked to provide more information if we are unable to verify what you told us through our electronic data sources.
