43 How can you help as a member Promote the Organization to your workplace friends Tell them the advantages of being a member We are a point of contact with the company Frequent information distribution on Chrysler and Government Legislation that will effect your future pension status Not all pensions are fully funded, this is a cause for concern Discount on insurance (HUB) and other businesses Get involved in our events (social & non social) Use the Web site to convey messages to politicians
44 Guest Speaker Brent Allen GreenShield Canada
45 SUMMARY Continued Movement From & Erosion of Defined Benefit Plans Introduction of target benefit plans at the provincial level will only increase this trend with language impacting ancillary items such as surviving spouse benefits. Government complacency is particularly concerning Ontario regulations which control your pension in respect of funding, accountability and transparency wherever you live. Our legislative goals remain unchanged and unmet. Companies are only doing what is required by the government. Politicians, not the bureaucrats are holding us back. We have provided you with the tools and the message to communicate. We need your help to do this and stay at 50% or more of the retiree group.
