2 Introduction A simple model of a classical monetary economy. Perfect competition and exible prices in all markets. A useful benchmark for later analysis, but many of the predictions are at odds with the empirical evidence. 3 Introduction Households: Firms: Complete nancial markets. Perfectly competitive labor market. Competitive rms (monopolistic competition and sticky prices later).
