2 INTERNATIONAL CURRENCY BUZZ Forex - Dollar Struggles as Geopolitics and Central Banks Take Center Stage Forex - EUR/USD stays weak, finds support near Forex - GBP/USD climbs back above as the USD losses strength GBP/USD The GBP/USD pair rose more than 50 pips from the lows and climbed back above The US Dollar lost strength during the US session and pulled back across the board. Cable trimmed losses as the greenback moved off daily highs. The US Dollar Index fell from back to the area. Market participants focus their attention on the G7 meeting and are also getting ready for next week busy schedule that includes the FOMC meeting. The pair is testing the 20-hour moving average at /20. A break higher could clear the way to more intraday gains. EUR/USD The dollar was higher while the euro retreated from earlier gains on Friday, as traders looked ahead to the G7 summit. All eyes are on the G7 meeting, which kicks off on Friday in Quebec, as trade tensions between the U.S. and its key allies remain. France and Germany warned the U.S. that they would not sign a joint statement without concessions, but the American top economic adviser Larry Kudlow warned this week that U.S. President Donald Trump would not back down from his tough stance on trade. Trump showed no signs of conciliation late Thursday when he accused France and Canada of charging the U.S. massive tariffs and create non-monetary barriers.
