7 The Banque de France ensures financial stability 737 authorised banks 48 inspections on behalf of the ECB as part of the SSM 185 on-site inspections: insurance firms, banks (excl. SSM), business practices 23 billion euro average daily flow of settlements processed by retail payment systems in France in December
8 To companies To individuals To the State The Banque de France provides numerous services to the economy The Bank performs economic and financial assessments and publishes in-depth research and statistics on the economy The Bank assesses the financial soundness of companies and attributes ratings The Bank acts as a credit mediator between companies and credit institutions to help businesses experiencing financing difficulties The Bank maintains registers of payment and credit repayment incidents made available to banks and merchants The Bank protects consumers The Bank facilitates public access to appropriate banking services The Bank oversees the right to a bank account procedure The Bank takes strong action to prevent situations of over-indebtedness The Bank administers the State s account (which must always be in credit) The Bank organises auctions of Treasury securities (issuance of French government debt instruments on the market) 8
