2 Summary of the 3 rd Quarter Reports of Kookmin Bank and H&CB Pursuant to the Merger Agreement dated April 23, 2001, Kookmin Bank and H&CB have agreed to merge by combining both banks into a new corporation to be named Kookmin Bank, herein shall be referred to "New Kookmin''. Any reference to Kookmin Bank in this document refers to old Kookmin Bank, which was merged into the New Kookmin as a result of the merger. Any reference to H&CB in this document shall refer to old H&CB, which was merged into the New Kookmin as a result of the merger. The following reports were submitted on November 14, 2001 to the Korean Financial Supervisory Commission and the Korean Stock Exchange pursuant to the Securities and Exchange Act of Korea. New Kookmin, which was incorporated pursuant to the Merger Agreement between H&CB and Kookmin Bank, filed these reports on behalf of Kookmin Bank and H&CB. 2
