2 The digital asset class has boomed into a 100$ billion market saw investors experience enormous returns and many smaller retail investors have taken advantage of this opportunity, while the majority of sophisticated investors did not actively participate was a year full of challenges and turbulences. The first-ever crypto investment report released July 18 by digital asset management fund Grayscale Investments reveals that the majority of capital inflow in 2018 came from institutional investors. According to the report, institutional capital accounted for 56 percent of all new investments into Grayscale products during the first half of 2018, followed by accredited individuals at 20 percent, retirement accounts for 16 percent, and family offices for 8 percent.
