8 FIDUCIARY STANDARD The advantage of working with a BCM Investment Advisor Representative is the mandatory fiduciary duty that requires him or her to place their interests below that of the client. In contrast, a broker s duty is to the broker-dealer he or she works for, not necessarily the client served. FIDUCIARY BROKER CLIENT PRODUCT ADVICE SALE Fiduciary duty extends solely to investment advisory advice and does not extend to other activities such as insurance or broker dealer services. Advisory clients are charged a quarterly fee for assets under management while insurance products pay a commission, which may result in a conflict of interest regarding compensation.
