10 1. Higher risk Holding shares in large listed companies can also be risky, but complete collapse is rare. For smaller companies, slow progression can cause difficulties in raising additional capital, causing them to cease trading and investors suffer complete loss of capital.

11 2. Dilution Raising more funds dilutes the size of share of existing shareholders. Where progress is slow, there may also be a dilution of value as well.

12 3. Lack of liquidity An unlisted company may not be able to offer a liquidity option until a trade sale or flotation is realised, which means having a medium to long-term investment horizon.
