1 What is changing? Deutsche Asset Management (Deutsche AM) announced last year that it is re-naming its exchange-traded fund () business. This means db x-trackers where it currently exists in fund names is being replaced with Xtrackers. At the same time, some names have been altered beyond replacing db x-trackers with Xtrackers in order to make them more meaningful for investors (for example, the word sovereign is replaced with the word government ). Also, for Direct Replication has been removed from direct replication, physical s, while the word swap has been added to those s that use indirect, swap-based replication, which are now a minority by invested assets of the complete Xtrackers product suite. Although the product name change was announced last year, formal name changes are being implemented now, along with the other product name alterations noted above. A full list of current and new names are listed below. Fund company names are changing, as detailed in point 3 below. What has prompted the renaming? The index tracking industry is now far bigger than when Deutsche AM s first s were launched 10 years ago. With thousands of products competing for investor attention it was felt that a new product name reflecting the qualities of Deutsche AM s index tracking products would be easier and more memorable for clients to experience. Meanwhile, it was also felt that some product names could be simplified and shortened (for example, db x-trackers MSCI Japan Index UCITS changing to Xtrackers MSCI Japan UCITS ). Which s are changing their fund name, and when will the change formally take place? The s listed below will change their name to reflect the new Xtrackers product name on February 16th, 2018, subject to extraordinary general meeting approval (shareholder approval) where required. Fund company names (the umbrella company that issues the s) are currently db x-trackers SICAV, db x-trackers II SICAV, and Concept Fund Solutions Plc. Subject to extraordinary general meeting approval (shareholder approval) where required, these will change to, respectively, Xtrackers, Xtrackers II, and Xtrackers (IE) Plc. Will this have any impact for investors/clients beyond the cosmetic? Investor and legal documentation is being updated to reflect the new product names. There are no operational changes to the s. Investment objectives of the s remain unchanged. When will I see the fund name changes being used by brokers, systems such as Bloomberg and online trading platforms etc? What are the timings for these changes? New product names will be effective from February 16 th, Isn t Deutsche AM changing its global branding to DWS? How will this product name change fit in with that? As announced on December 5 th, 2017, Deutsche AM will use DWS as its global umbrella brand. The Xtrackers product labels are however being retained.
