Pfizer claims that J&J signed exclusive contracts with health insurers to ensure its medicine (Remicade) woul be preferred over a biosimilar produced by Pfizer. Biosimilars represent a relatively new class of drugs that copy existing biopharmaceuticals - medicines based on living cells, rather than synthetic chemicals found in traditional drugs. Pfizer s lawsuit is the first legal action to raise a debate over whether biosimilars should be considered equivalent to existing medicines. Shares in Pfizer were up 1.52% on Wednesday. US markets were marginally higher for the week, rising 0.08%.

Ubisoft wants Vivendi to support its employee share ownership initiatives that it believes will incentivize staff. At the same time, Ubisoft warned Vivendi that it would be a mistake to try and take control over the company. Vivendi has accumulated 26.6% of Ubisoft stock, making an unsolicited investment in the company but facing a strong opposition of the management. Shares in Ubisoft dropped 2.29% on Thursday.

The deal ends an eight-month bidding war that put Toshiba under the threat of bankruptcy. Despite the agreement, the acquisition of the memory unit could be delayed by both antitrust scrutiny and legal action from Toshiba s joint venture partner Western Digital. Toshiba will use the proceeds from the deal to plug a $4.5bn hole in shareholder equity. Shares in Toshiba jumped 3.17% on Wednesday.
