12 SLIDING GATES All our Wrought Iron Style Steel Sliding Gates are manufactured to a very high standard in our own workshops. The bottom rail with bearing wheels is 100mm x 50mm steel hollow section, the main Frame uprights are 50mm square steel hollow section, all horizontal rails are 50mm x 10mm solid flat steel, the main upright bars 20mm square steel hollow section, lower bars 12mm round or square solid steel. Any decorative scrollwork is formed with 20mm x 6mm flat bar. Decorative circles are formed with 20mm x 8mm bar. All hollow section is vented to allow hot zinc galvanising to be applied inside and out for complete rust protection. After hot dip galvanising the gates are acid etched and are finished with three coats of semi gloss vinyl spray paint for long term maintenance free use. All our gates are suitable for Automation, the most poplar automation system for this type of gate is a Rack and Pinion Motor with built-in Obstacle detection for safety. The bottom rail of the gate extends beyond the opening width of the gateway by 700mm and is fitted with a toothed rack which engages with the motor at all times. This means that the area the gate slides open into needs to be 700mm wider than the gateway width. (example 3.3 metre wide gateway requires 4.0 metres to slide into) Total Track Length 7.3 Metres. POSTS & TRACK Posts & Tracks are Included in the Gate Price with sliding gates and are available for either positioning behind brick piers or to stand alone. When Installing behind brick piers, normally there are two single posts the same width apart as the piers and the track (which is a heavy steel beam) fixes to shelves on the posts below the ground. On the top of the beam there is a solid 20mm diameterround bar, which stands proud of the road surface preventing any stones etc from obstructing the gate wheels. Our Posts are normally installed together with our own or the customers builder. He would dig out the foundation holes andwhen we install the posts we also run cables for accessories such a safety photocells that will be mounted on the brickwork with cables hidden inside. Stand alone posts are used when brickwork is not required. These posts are usually 100mm Square Steel Hollow section hot dip galvanised and vinyl spray painted and maintenance free. There are two posts on either side forming a gantry for the gate to slide between. Fencing can be attached to the outer posts if necessary. The posts can be topped with Four Times Back Weathered or Ball Cappings We also manufacture & install matching Railings and Pedestrian Gates. The Railings can be full height and free standing or wall mounted and made to suit curves an slopes. The Pedestrian Gates can also be fitted with a manual lock and keys or and electronic lock triggered with a Keypad or Intercom. Pedestrian Gates can also have a gate closer fitted to make sure the gate is not left open. 12
