1 Profile Cameron brings over 20 years' of experience as a solicitor and 9 years as a solicitor-advocate to the Bar. His range and depth of experience enables him to advise and represent professional services firms, banks, insurers and other, as well as individual partners, directors and officers on a wide range of issues ranging from criminal and regulatory proceedings to liability claims. He is also particularly well placed to advise regulatory bodies and those they regulate on investigations, prosecutions, judicial review and the design of regulatory and disciplinary schemes. He was, until recently, the Executive Counsel of the Accountancy and Actuarial Discipline Board (AADB), the UK's independent disciplinary body for accountants and actuaries, responsible for the investigation and prosecution of some of the largest public interest disciplinary cases against auditors, accountants and actuaries in the UK. He has a rich depth of knowledge as a former regulator, particularly of regulatory investigations and prosecutions judicial review and drafting of rules, policies and procedures. He has also worked closely alongside the Financial Services Authority, Serious Fraud Office, the Securities and Exchange Commission and other authorities and regulatory bodies. Prior to that, he was in private practice and was an experienced commercial litigation partner with an international law firm and more recently, a magic circle firm. He has represented and advised professional service firms, manufacturers, investment banks, insurance companies and individual directors, officers and partners on a wide range of contentious issues including regulatory, disciplinary and criminal investigations and proceedings, money laundering, bribery and corruption, professional liability and internal investigations. Cameron also has many years of experience appearing and representing clients in various courts and tribunals. Awarded Higher Rights of Audience in 2003, he has held judicial office and has worked in several overseas jurisdictions including, in particular, the USA and Hong Kong. For several years, Cameron acted on behalf of the Stock Exchange of Hong Kong and its insurers, principally investigating and advising on misconduct and fraud allegations against stockbrokers. He has advised on many more including regulatory and criminal investigations. He is well aware of the reputational and financial risks occasioned by such investigations, both for the firms and individuals within them, and the need to be aware of regulatory, data protection and privacy requirements, often in several jurisdictions. Financial Crime and Money Laundering Cameron has also advised and represented banks, financial institutions, professional services firms and individuals in relation to fraud, bribery and corruption investigations and proceedings. He also authored the section on Proceeds of Crime in the inaugural edition of Archbold Hong Kong, and has regularly advised banks and professional services firms on anti-money laundering legislation and regulations. Insurance During his career as a solicitor in private practice, Cameron represented and advised many of the leading multinational insurance companies and Lloyd's syndicates, particularly in relation to financial risks, professional indemnity, D&O and product liability. 4 - Defending a UK pharmaceutical company in relation to liability claims arising from a new drug Commercial Litigation With over 20 years' of experience in litigation, Cameron has been involved in many different types of cases including: Construction: advising the developers of a commercial property in Scotland in a claim against the contractors following structural damage; representing the structural engineers responsible for the design and construction of Ransome's Dock in London following the collapse of a building on the site. Intellectual Property: Representing various manufacturers in trademark infringement and passing off cases. Trust Disputes: acting for the trustees of a 400m family trust in litigation involving the beneficiaries and the settlor; acting for an Italian manufacturer to recover 2m of trust monies paid to a joint venture partner in China. Disaster Litigation: representing a UK manufacturer in what was, at the time, the largest lawsuit in US history, a US$2bn damages case in Puerto Rico following a hotel fire in which 97 people died. There were over 2000 plaintiffs and 250 defendants. Product Liability: representing a UK defence manufacturer in two US cases following fatal accidents; representing a UK pharmaceutical company in a liability claim relating to one of its products. Defamation: Cameron was one of a team of lawyers advising McDonalds Restaurants in the infamous McLibel case Cameron has also qualified as an arbitrator and a mediator.
