1 Journey Accident Insurance Summary of Key s Applicable for changes from: 15PDSACEJA01 or 15PDSACEJA02 to 16PDSJA01, 16PDSJA02 or 16PDSJA03 Please note: This document provides a brief summary of the key changes only, made to the Journey Accident Insurance Policy Wording and Product Disclosure Statement (PDS). Whilst every effort has been made to ensure the accuracy of this document, this is not an exhaustive list of the changes made and does not form part of the Policy Wording or PDS. General Definitions Act of Terrorism Carjacking Incident Dependent Child(ren) Domestic Duties Medical Aids Amended definition: Other Fracture Policy Policyholder Pre-Existing Medical Condition Act of Terrorism means the planning of, use or threat of use of violence against persons or property for the purpose of advancing political, religious or ideological goals. Carjacking Incident means the violent theft or attempted theft of a motor vehicle which is under the care and control of, or occupied by or immediately intended to be occupied by a Covered Person. Now includes grown children (over 25) who are physically or mentally incapable of self-care. Domestic Duties means the usual and ordinary domestic duties undertaken by someone as a homemaker and could include child-minding and home help services. Childminding and home help services must be carried out by persons other than the Covered Person s Close Relatives or persons permanently living with the Covered Person and must be certified by a Doctor as being necessary for the recovery of the Covered Person. Medical Aids means equipment such as crutches, bandages, traction equipment, walker boots, heat packs etc. that are recommended in the treatment of a Bodily Injury by a Doctor and which are not excluded under General Exclusion 4. Now includes other than a Complete Fracture, Simple Fracture or Hairline Fracture. 2 Table of Events Event 7 amended Loss of Use of one (1) Limb deleted now included under Event 6 Events 9 (Loss of lens) and 11 (loss of hearing) are split and are now Events 8 & 9 Note that Event 6 now states: Loss of use of one (1) or more Limbs. Previously there were two events for loss of limbs, both of which carried a 100% benefit. This is split so that Event 8 is for 100% and Event 9 are for lower benefit amounts: 8. Permanent Loss of a) hearing in both ears b) the lens in both eyes 100% 100% 9. Permanent Loss of a) hearing in one (1) ear b) the lens in one (1) eye 30% 60% Note there is absolutely no change to the actual cover provided just the order has changed so that all 100% benefits are grouped. Event 12, Burns, is now Event 11 Event 18 New Event Event 12, Burns is now extended to both second as well as third degree burns, and only requires cover of 20% of the body to trigger a benefit. Second degree burn coverage provides a 25% benefit. 18. Loss of at least fifty percent (50%) of all sound and natural teeth, including capped or crowned teeth, but excluding first teeth and dentures 1% to a maximum of $10,000 in total. Deleted condition Amended Event Part C - Fractured Bones This clause is now deleted: *Any amount payable under Event 2, 3 or 19 will be reduced by any benefit amounts payable under Events 25 or 26 for any period greater than fifty-two (52) weeks. Events 29, 30, 31, 32, 34 now specify Complete, Simple or Hairline fracture Additional Benefits Unexpired Membership Benefit Independent Financial Advice Coma Benefit Partner Retraining Benefit A benefit to reimburse a pro-rata amount of a pre-paid sport or gym membership, association or registration If a Covered Person sustains Bodily Injury, and a benefit is payable under Events 1 to 8, We will pay for professional financial advice in respect of the benefit payable for Events 1 to 8 up to the amount stated in the Schedule. If a person is continually unconscious We will pay a weekly amount for a maximum number of weeks stated in the Schedule. If a Covered Person suffers Accidental Death or Permanent Total Disablement, We will pay up to a maximum amount shown in the Schedule for actual costs incurred for training the Spouse/Partner so they are able to return to the workforce or improve employment opportunities. 3 Additional Benefits (cont) Dependent Child Supplement A lump sum payment made to each Dependent Child if a Covered Person suffers Accidental Death Orphaned Benefit If a Covered Person sustains Bodily Injury, and a benefit is payable under Events 1 to 8, We will pay for professional financial advice in respect of the benefit payable for Events 1 to 8 up to the amount stated in the Schedule. Emergency Home Help Student Tutorial Costs Premature Birth / Miscarriage Benefit Accidental HIV Infection Benefit Lump Sum Terrorism Injury Benefit Accommodation & Transport Expenses Education Fund Benefit Out of Pocket Expenses Childcare Benefit Carjacking Benefit Excess & Vehicle Hire Carjacking Benefit Lump Sum Benefit Previously only available under the Voluntary Workers policy. Now available to all Covered Persons and not just non-income earners. Benefit covers home duties that are unable to be performed as a result of the person s disablement. Previously only available under the Voluntary Workers policy. Now available to all Covered persons and not just non-income earners. Covers costs incurred to continue studying with a tutor whilst unable to attend usual classes due to the person s disability. A lump sum is payable to Covered Persons who sustain a covered Bodily Injury that results in premature childbirth (prior to twenty-six weeks) or miscarriage. Lump sum payable to a Covered Person who acquires HIV through Bodily Injury. This is a lump sum benefit payable to a Covered Person who suffers a Terrorism Act as defined. Where a Spouse/Partner and/or Dependent Child(ren) have to travel to a person who is admitted to hospital as an inpatient more than 100kms from home, we will pay transport and accommodation expenses incurred by them up to the limit stated in the Schedule. Where a person suffers Accidental Death, we will reimburse school or university fees for surviving Dependent Child(ren) up to the amount stated in the Schedule. Cover for otherwise non-claimable expenses in the event of Bodily Injury. Cover for childcare services required for persons who suffer any of the new events 2-8 previously 2-7 and 9 (a) This benefit is payable to persons who suffer a Carjacking as defined. The benefit will cover the cost of the person s comprehensive vehicle insurance excess as well as the cost of taxi or hire car required whilst their own vehicle is being repaired. If a Covered Person suffers Bodily Injury as a result of a Carjacking, we will pay a lump sum benefit of the amount stated in the Schedule. General Conditions Applicable to the Policy Condition 11 nonincome earners AD&D This clause has been amended slightly to make it clear that non-income earners are restricted to an AD&D benefit of $250,000 only.
