SPECTERA EYECARE NETWORKS PARTNERSHIP BRINGS AN INCREASE IN SERVICE RELATED ITEMS OD Excellence and Spectera Eyecare Networks have entered into a new partnership to offer OD Excellence members a simplified approach to providing eye care and eyewear for their patients covered under UnitedHealthcare Vision. OUR PARTNERSHIP HIGHLIGHTS LAB OF CHOICE Regardless of your practice location, you will be able to utilize your preferred lab partner if you choose. INCREASED SERVICE RELATED ITEMS Depending on your status with Spectera Eyecare Networks, you may be eligible for an increased eye exam and contact lens fitting rate. ELECTRONIC CLAIMS SUBMITTAL As a part of this partnership, OD Excellence members are highly encouraged to submit claims electronically through a claims clearinghouse or via spectera.com. PROGRAM IS OPEN TO OD EXCELLENCE MEMBERS: Depending on your status with Spectera Eyecare Networks, the process will take the following approximate time frames: Currently a Spectera Eyecare Networks provider and eligible for new partnership rates: à days* Not a Spectera Eyecare Networks provider today: days* *assumes paperwork is submitted in a timely manner GET STARTED TODAY OD Excellence or call (855) to get started today. info@odexcellence.com Members of OD Excellence ( members ) are not automatically enrolled into this Partnership and must contract with Spectera Eyecare Networks to become an approved optical provider. Members must be active and in good standing with OD Excellence to participate in the partnership outlined above.
2 Frequently Asked Questions What are my contract options as an OD Excellence member? This contract opportunity will not change your current contract arrangement unless you specifically request a change (i.e., you wish to use the Spectera Vision Laboratory or you wish to use a lab of your choice). Whether you are contracted with the Spectera Vision Laboratory or using a lab of your choice there may be service related options that are of benefit to you. However, you will still continue to secure eyewear materials according to your current contract structure. Please contact OD Excellence for more information. Who is responsible for materials including formulary or non-formulary products? If you are contracted with the Spectera Vision Laboratory, all materials, with the exception of nonformulary contact lenses, will be supplied by the Spectera Vision Laboratory. If you are able to use a lab of your choice, all materials and related costs are your responsibility. Do you have a list of the formularies for Progressive, Anti-Reflective, and Contact Lenses? Yes, please see the attached formulary lists. Keep in mind that our formularies are updated regularly and can be retrieved on spectera.com. If a provider is contracted with the Spectera Vision Laboratory or utilizing a lab of their choice, how will the reimbursement work? Any co-payment, deductible or coinsurance that a patient is responsible to pay under the Patient s Vision Plan will be subtracted from your contracted rate in determining the amount to be paid by SPECTERA EYECARE NETWORKS. Any amounts collected from the patient in excess of those listed in your contract for Ophthalmic Lens Options and Frames shall be owed to SPECTERA EYECARE NETWORKS and will be withheld from the applicable remittances. The actual payment amount is also subject to matters described in this Agreement, such as the Protocols. Do I get reimbursed for contact lens fittings? Yes, in the event this service is covered in full by the Patient s Vision Plan, then the reimbursement rate listed in a provider s contract Exhibit C applies. In the event this service is not covered in full by the Patient s Vision Plan, then the patient is responsible for paying your billed charge. Do we have to carry certain frames for Spectera Eyecare Networks patients? Spectera Eyecare Networks patients may choose from any frame that you carry. You are not required to carry a certain line or specific number of frame options.

UnitedHealthcare is the brand for our company and many of our plans. We often hear Spectera used to name our company and our plans but the vast majority of our patients don t know that name at all. Patients plan benefits typically use the UnitedHealthcare brand. When you speak to patients, it s important to call their insurance benefits by the correct brand name in order to avoid confusion. Of course, UnitedHealthcare may also be the name of your patients medical plans. That s OK many patients have both medical and vision insurance through UnitedHealthcare. It is more important than ever to verify each patient s eligibility and benefits at spectera.com before providing service. You can also access our brand information guide on spectera.com. Is retinal imaging reimbursable? Yes, retinal screening photography is reimbursed at $ It is more important than ever to verify each patient s eligibility and benefits at spectera.com before providing service. Is there a separate reimbursement for a refraction service? For in network providers the comprehensive exam reimbursement covers both the exam and refraction services. Do I need to obtain an authorization for providing services?
