3 planned due to cost efficiencies. No doubt there are a lot of unknown events looming around the corner but it s currently all systems go with many of our clients. There has also been an increase in the growth of MGAs and focus from the regulators, as well as a significant uptake in merger and acquisitions by foreign investors seeking to capitalise on the current market conditions. This will continue to increase in the year ahead, due the value of the currency and presence of talented individuals in the UK. Welcome to the IDEX Insurance Salary Guide 2016/17. We have created this year s salary guide drawing on a combination of our own data and information from the UK general insurance market, insights from our respected clients, placed candidates and our specialist consultants extensive industry knowledge. In the wake of Brexit, the UK markets seemed to stall for a short period of time. However, in the months since, we have seen the demand for talent return to pre-brexit levels. One client of ours even stated that, due to the level of the pound, they will be investing in the UK even more than they had Diversity has also been a hot topic during the course of 2016, with many organisations across the country taking part in the new Inclusion at Lloyd s initiative. The impact of this focus on diversity has yet to be felt, but at IDEX we are working closely with our clients to assist them in adapting and improving their company diversity and inclusion recruitment practices, whilst ensuring they continue to attract the very best UK GI talent into their businesses into I hope that you find this guide informative in your planning for the coming year. If you require further insight or have any feedback on the guide, please contact myself or one of my team of specialist consultants. David Carr BSc Econ (Hons) MREC Managing Director M E. 4 City & Lloyd s SECTOR SNAPSHOT Salary levels have seen increases in niche disciplines with the demand for organisations to create significant competitive advantage in their specific sectors. Due to a shortage of graduates and trainee talent coming into the sector over the past few years, the results have been felt by many, with a scarcity of individuals with 3 to 6 years experience being available in the market. The issue of bringing fresh talent into the insurance sector is being addressed by many businesses, for example one of our clients is moving to recruit school leavers and investing in long term training programmes, as opposed to focussing solely on recruiting graduates David Carr BSc Econ (Hons) MREC Managing Director Page 4 - City & Lloyd s

10 Home Counties SECTOR SNAPSHOT Salaries have remained largely steady over the last 12 months in the Home-Counties. As we saw in 2015, Brokers in particular are still willing to pay attractive packages to fee-generating individuals as drawing them from the London market still remains a challenge. In contrast, non-income producing roles have tighter budgets which has made the potential candidate pools smaller for certain roles and hence the recruitment process slower. 30 IDEX has seen significant growth across all of our areas of expertise over the last 12 months. The recruitment sector is heading towards a period of dramatic change due to a number of advancements in technology and working practices. It is well documented that the workplace of the future will be significantly different to what we have today, the exponential growth of data technologies and automations are firmly impacting the white collar space. Online platforms for example, have already displaced 100,000 s of jobs and this is only the tip of the iceberg. Should we feel threatened by this emergence of cognitive computing. not if we adapt. With all great change comes great opportunity. Is your career going to be impacted? Yes. Is your business going to be affected? Yes. Is it going to be a positive impact? The great news is that it is still your choice. As an employer you need to ensure your employees are skilled to take advantage of the future. Research we commissioned last year proved that individuals are no longer loyal to a company unless that company is seen to be investing into protecting their future. IDEX have invested heavily in new technologies; we are providing advanced training to our consultants on how to build attraction strategies, consult on employer brand, plus selection techniques appropriate for the new generations. We have created a solutions led culture which encourages our teams to constantly look at technologies, systems and processes that enable everyone at IDEX to take pride in making YOU successful.
