The moderator will prepare a set of key questions addressing these introductory topics and will explore each question with each panellist. The private sector will start the panel highlighting challenges and major barriers, while donors and the public sector experts will share experiences showing the ways to overcome with these challenges. How are these concerns being dealt with today? In this first session we will explore the central regulatory challenges such as basis risks, the non-indemnity nature of parametric insurance and the insurable interest. Supervisory authorities will share their experiences when pilots were 2
3 registered in their home countries and the process of approval. Countries that have drafted specific regulations on parametric insurance will present the main features of these regulations. The objective is to spark an active debate where day-by-day concerns of supervisory authorities of Central America are discussed and addressed by experts.
