4 workshop facilitators WORKSHOP 1 Aviation Itono Hakim Catlin Singapore Itono Hakim graduated from the University of Melbourne in 2007 with a Bachelor of Commerce and began his insurance career with Catlin Singapore the following year. Since then, he has spent time in various Catlin offices, including London and Guernsey. Itono was promoted to Underwriter in He has experience on Airlines and Products & Airports, with expertise focusing mainly on General Aviation. Emma Woodley Catlin Singapore Emma began her insurance career in 2002 with the Aon Graduate Scheme in London. During her time at Aon, she chose to specialise as an Aviation Insurance Broker. In 2006, she was given the opportunity to become a General Aviation Underwriter for Allianz in London. Emma has international experience writing Aviation business. She has a degree in Economics and completed her Associateship of the Chartered Insurance Institute (ACII). In September 2013, she moved to Singapore and joined Catlin as an Aviation Underwriter. WORKSHOP 2 Project Cargo & DSU/ALOP Said Khan Amlin Singapore Pte Ltd Since November 2008, Said Khan has been employed with Amlin Singapore Pte Ltd Syndicate 2001 at Lloyd s as the Class Underwriter Cargo. He has been with Lloyd s since 2006; having spent close to two years with another Syndicate. Prior to Lloyd s, he was with AIG for a period of 8 years 4 years as the Regional Marine Loss Control Engineering Manager and the latter 4 years as the Profit Centre Manager responsible for building a profitable cargo book for the Singapore market. Before his insurance career, he was doing adjusting and surveying for almost 10 years with several prominent companies in the region; after having spent 5 years at sea as a navigating/cargo officer. WORKSHOP 3 Terrorism and Contingency Matt Bird QBE Marine Energy Services Matt began his Insurance career with The Miller Insurance Group in July 1998 as a specie broker. From there, Matt moved internally to join the Special Risks team, which involved broking a number of different classes of business, such as contingency, cargo, prize indemnity, political risks and terrorism. In March 2002, Matt moved to Marsh to join their specialist terrorism team, where he was involved in broking many different types of risks of a global nature from a wide cross section of industries, such as Energy, Manufacturing, Commercial Property/Hotels, Mining and Construction. From July 2004 until May 2009, Matthew was a partner at JLT Limited where he worked within the Credit, Political Risk and Terrorism Division. His responsibilities included leading their specialist Terrorism, Political Violence and Kidnap & Ransom team. Matt joined QBE in May 2009 as a Terrorism, Political Violence and Political Risk underwriter with a worldwide remit, although he ended up specialising in risks emanating from Asia and moved to Singapore in August 2013 to further develop this opportunity. Simon Wilmot-Smith Talbot Underwriting Risk Services Simon has been underwriting for over 30 years always on behalf of Lloyd s Syndicates. This includes a period as the Active Underwriter of his own Syndicate. He also spent a number of years as Head of Underwriting at a Specialist Lines Agency and a period as Director of Underwriting at a major UK Plc. He is recognised as a Leading Underwriter in both Political Violence and Contingency. Simon has been based in Singapore for the past 6 years having arrived at Talbot Asia on the formation of the Syndicate as part of the Lloyd s Asia Platform. Said is one of the few underwriters who has had a diverse background of being a sea-going officer, an adjuster/surveyor, a risk consultant and now an underwriter at Amlin a well known brand at Lloyd s.

5 WORKSHOP 4 Offshore Energy Shengnan Li Markel International Shengnan joined Markel International Singapore as a trainee energy underwriter in July 2010 after graduating from Nanyang Technological University with a degree in Marine Studies, obtained full underwriting authority in 2011 and has been a key underwriter on the account for 3 years. In 2014, she took over the stewardship of the Asian energy book with support from London. Richard Dare Watkins Syndicate Richard Dare has over 8 years Energy market underwriting experience. He started his career in the London market, where he spent five and half years with a Lloyd s of London syndicate before moving to Singapore in 2012 to build on his international knowledge. He now works at Watkins, one of the world s leading energy underwriters WORKSHOP 5 Directors & Officers Liability/ Professional Indemnity/Financial Institutions James Nicholson Catlin Singapore James is an Underwriter in Catlin s Financial & Professional risks team in Singapore. His remit ranges from the Middle East to Japan, underwriting all classes of PI, D&O and Financial Institutions. James has spent several years in the Singapore market, and prior to this was in broking and underwriting roles in the London market. Simon Moi Markel International Singapore Before joining Markel Singapore in 2010, Simon was the Regional Financial Institutions Practice Leader for Chubb Insurance in Hong Kong. He first started his liability insurance career in 1998 with the General Reinsurance Corporation in Boston, USA and subsequently relocated to Hong Kong. Simon is an accredited lecturer for the Vocational Training Council in Hong Kong and a Fellow of the Australian and New Zealand Institute of Insurance and Finance. WORKSHOP 6 Medical Malpractice/Clinical Trials Susan Chew Newline Asia Services Susan joined Newline Asia in 2008 as a specialist liability underwriter. She is responsible for the Liability portfolio which includes Public and Products Liability, Clinical Trial Insurance and Healthcare solutions including Medical Malpractice. Newline writes direct insurance in Singapore and Hong Kong and facultative reinsurance throughout Asia. Prior to Newline, Susan worked with Allianz Group for 10 years specializing in Liability and Clinical Trial insurance.

8 ADMINISTRATIVE INFORMATIon REGISTration Registration should be made online at: Before registering, participants should refer to the Target Audience to ensure that they meet the recommended experience and qualification prerequisites. A Letter of Attendance will be issued upon request at the end of the programme to those participants who have attended all the workshop sessions.
