4 Monthly Member Spotlight Winner Congratulations to our monthly member spotlight winner, Amy Kwast. We asked her a few questions. Here s what she had to tell SACA: Name: Amy Kwast, WCLA Employer: Sedgwick CMS Job title: Workers Compensation Supervisor Years of service in the claims industry: 22 What type of claims do you handle? Texas Workers Compensation How long have you been a licensed Adjuster? 18 years In Texas? 10 years What s the biggest change you have seen in the claims business since you first started? When I first began working with claims, I was employed with a small Third Party Administrator. The biggest change I have seen revolves around technology. In the past, everything was handled via paper files and checks were handwritten. Having a paperless environment is much more efficient and allows additional time for adjusters to provide the necessary customer service to the clients and claimants. What do you enjoy about your job? I enjoy keeping up to date on the Texas Workers Compensation Rules and Regulations. I currently act as the Texas State Expert for Sedgwick CMS. I enjoy assisting other colleagues in our organization that may not be familiar with Texas claim handling. I also enjoy mentoring my direct reports, and others in the office, for further promotional opportunities. What do you least like about your job? There does not seem to be enough time in the day to complete my daily tasks and also be able to have enough time to provide the necessary mentoring to my direct reports and other colleagues throughout our company to help them grow and meet their career goals. How long have you been participating with the San Antonio Claims Association? Approximately 8 years What do you do for fun? First and foremost, I enjoy spending time with my husband, Corey, and 6 year old daughter, Cheyenne. Cheyenne is currently the reigning Sutherland Springs Little Miss. We enjoy spending time at a small diner in Sutherland Springs as huge supporters of Sierra Cecil, an up and coming amazing vocalist. She has auditioned for America s Got Talent and is just waiting to see if she has made it through the first round. Any other accomplishments or remarks you d like to share with the membership of SACA? I have established my own company, Kwast Kreations, which specializes in custom made jewelry and accessories. Some of my spare time is utilized in creating new designs as well as custom orders. Kwast Kreations is a proud sponsor of Cynthia Hinojosa who currently holds the title of Mrs. Central Texas.

What has been the biggest challenge in the industry for your company? Continuing to maintain our excellent reputation within Texas by keeping ahead of our customer s needs regarding electronic interface, enhanced communication and reporting, to name a few.
