2 CULTURAL COOPERATION AGREEMENT BETWEEN THE GOVERNMENT OF IRELAND AND THE GOVERNMENT OF THE REPUBLIC OF INDIA The Government of Irelnd nd the Government of the Repuli of Indi (hereinfter referred to s the Contrting Prties), Inspired y ommon desire to estlish nd develop loser ulturl reltions, nd Desirous of promoting nd developing in every possile mnner the reltions nd understnding etween Irelnd nd Indi in the relms of rt, ulture, rheology, edution, inluding tivity in the fields of siene nd tehnology, puli helth, mss medi, tourism nd sports, HAVE AGREED s follows: Artile 1 The Contrting Prties shll filitte nd enourge oopertion in the fields of rt nd ulture, rheology, edution inluding demi tivity in the fields of siene nd tehnology, medil reserh nd puli helth, mss medi of informtion nd edution, tourism, sports nd gmes in order to ontriute towrds etter knowledge of their respetive ultures nd tivities in these fields. Artile 2 Eh Contrting Prty my estlish, in the territory of the other, ulturl institutes in ordne with lws, regultions nd generl poliy in this regrd, it eing understood tht prior lerne of the Government onerned would e otined efore ny suh institution is estlished. The Detils regrding the estlishment of suh institutions shll e settled etween the two ountries y mens of n dditionl protool to e negotited fter this greement enters into fore. Artile 3 Contrting Prties shll enourge nd filitte: reiprol visits of professors nd experts for delivering letures, study tours nd speil ourses; reiprol visits of representtives of edutionl, literry, sientifi, tehnil, rtisti, sports nd journlists ssoitions nd orgnistions, nd prtiiption in ongresses, onferenes, symposi nd seminrs. Artile 4 The Contrting Prties shll enourge nd filitte:

3 exhnges in the field of rt nd ulture nd in the field of mss medi suh s films, doumentries, rdio nd television; exhnge of mterils in the fields of siene, edution, sports, rheology, nd trnsltion nd exhnge of ooks, periodils nd other edutionl, sientifi, tehnil, ulturl nd sports pulitions, nd wherever possile exhnges of opies of rt ojets. Artile 5 Eh Contrting Prty shll endevour to provide filities nd sholrships to students nd sientifi personnel of the other ountry seeking to study in its institutions of higher edution nd reserh lortories s well s to follow prtil trining ourses. Artile 6 The Contrting Prties shll gree to explore tively, hving regrd to institutionl utonomy, the sope for estlishing system for mutul reognition of demi degrees nd other qulifitions in oth ountries to filitte future ollortion. Artile 7 Eh Contrting Prty shll endevour to present different fets of the life nd ulture of the other Prty through the medi of rdio, television nd press. With this end in view, the two prties shll exhnge suitle mterils nd progrmmes. Artile 8 The Contrting Prties shll filitte nd promote: exhnge of rtists, nd dne nd musi ensemles; exhnge of rt nd other exhiitions; nd exhnges of experts in the field of inemtogrphy nd prtiiption in eh other s Interntionl Film Festivls. Artile 9 The Contrting Prties shll enourge visits of sports tems etween the two ountries nd shll filitte, sujet to the ntionl lws nd regultions in fore, their sty nd movements in their respetive territories.

4 Artile 10 The Contrting Prties shll, to the extent possile, ensure tht text-ooks presried for their edutionl institutions, prtiulrly those relting to History nd Geogrphy, do not ontin ny error or misrepresenttion of fts out eh other s ounty. Artile 11 Eh Contrting Prty shll filitte, in ordne with its respetive lws, the importtion for non-ommeril purposes nd irultion of ll mteril originting from the other prty, tht my e neessry for the fulfilment of the ojetives of this Agreement. Artile 12 For the implementtion of the ojetives of the present Agreement, Joint Committee shll e estlished y the Contrting Prties s nd when onsidered neessry onsisting of n equl numer of representtives of the two Governments, whih shll meet s greed upon etween the Contrting Prties or t the request of either of them lterntely in Dulin nd New Delhi t lest one in three yers. The Joint Committee will e responsile for: d e reviewing periodilly the implementtion of the Agreement in the two ountries; dvising the Government onerned on the modlities of implementtion; formulting ulturl, sientifi, tehnologil nd edutionl exhnge progrmmes, nd reviewing the sme; reommending to the Prty onerned ny item of interest to either prty in the fields within the sope of the Agreement; nd generlly dvising the Government onerned s to the mnner in whih the provisions of this Agreement my e implemented effetively. Artile 13 The present Agreement shll ome into fore on the dte of exhnge of the Instruments of Rtifition. It shll remin in fore for period of five yers nd shll e renewed utomtilly therefter for further periods of five yers eh time unless either Contrting Prty gives to the other Prty six months prior written notie of its intention to terminte it. In witness whereof the undersigned representtives eing duly uthorised thereto y their respetive Governments, hve signed the present Agreement nd hve ffixed their sels.
