9 Palestinian review 9 OUR MAIN CONCLUSIONS Strong commitment by the government towards SDGs with good planning that involves different stakeholders. Weak coordination with the NGO sector, or exchange of information related to the data collection, also limited actions to raise awareness. Future government plan (national policy agenda citizen first ), focused on three hubs; road towards independence, reform with improved service quality and sustainable development National team with 24 members, including all groups related to sustainable development (government, NGOs, private sector), lead by the Prime Minister s Office. Main general goal of the national official statistics development strategy ( ) was set to unify the statistical infrastructure necessary to monitor SDGs

10 Palestinian review 10 OUR MAIN FINDINGS All sectors (government institutions, NGOs, private sector, development experts) are involved in consultations and stages of national plan preparation the government or national team did not launch SDG public awareness raising initiatives in society No clear definition of budgets allocated to realize sectorial plans, especially the associated SDGs The no poverty goal was included as part of the strategic goal 1 of Ministry of Social Affairs ( ) A database on indicators has been set, including availability, data sources, statistical department responsible, stakeholders determined global basis of indicator in question, measurement unit, methodology, necessary data, category, regularity, definition and latest data.

11 Palestinian review 11 OUR MAIN RECOMMENDATIONS Develop public awareness building initiatives about SDGs. Develop administrative records that will be used as main source of indicator measurement. Ensure that all sectorial and cross-sectorial plans include reference values (baseline), desired values, information sources, regularity of indicator measurement Establish a list of CSOs involved in the no poverty goal as part of the social protection responsibility Approve a method to exchange information and communicate with all CSOs.

12 Algerian review 12 Good practice: 14 February a kick-off meeting (day as part of the awareness-raising) organised by Cdc and NCA in order to: Raise awareness of the importance of sustainable development goals; Raise awareness of the positive role and effective contribution that can be provided by the SAI s to achieving the SDG s Gather all relevant government agencies (more than 200 participants invited) in one day, in order to raise awareness of the need for coordination and cooperation to achieve the SDGs

13 Algerian Review 13 Clarify that the process is not the audit in the traditional sense, but is a review on how the government is preparing to implement the SDGs; Announce the beginning of the review of the preparedness of the Government to implementing the SDGs; Declare the need for constructive cooperation of all stakeholders in order to achieve the review process; Annouce the preparation of a report and submission to the Prime Minister.

15 Algerian Review Impact of the kick off meeting Sending direct messages to stakeholders and sharing the responsibility with them in implementing the SDGs; Gaining more collaboration from the stakeholders informing them of the aims off the review; Conducting informal meetings with the audited bodies (positive, frank and realistic interviews were realized); Communicating with researchers and experts in universities to have their opinion on the implementation of the SDGs. 15
