1 get started Maumee Valley Habitat for Humanity welcomes Lucas County homeowners to apply to our home repair program for assistance with their home. Please take time to read through this applicant overview to determine if you meet our criteria and to better understand the application process. Thank you. our home repair program Maumee Valley Habitat for Humanity s Home Repair Program began in 2008 and builds on Habitat s traditional homeownership model of using affordable payment options, sweat equity, and volunteer labor to serve current low-income homeowners who are struggling to maintain their homes or make necessary critical repairs. Maumee Valley Habitat for Humanity s Home Repair Program s focus is non-emergency health and safety related, interior and exterior, critical repairs that preserve the home and raise the quality of life for the homeowner. The Home Repair Program offers volunteer and staff labor at no cost to the homeowner. Materials, services, and a 10% administrative fee is paid for by the homeowner though a 0% interest loan agreement repaid over a period of time, typically months Conant Street, Maumee, Ohio home repair program application overview a world where everyone has a decent place to live Created 8/18 Home Repair Examples Roofs and Gutters Stairs, Ramps, and Railings Windows, Doors, and Locks Faucets, Toilets, and Grab Bars Porches and Fences the application process 1. Complete home repair program application and provide all required documents. 2. Demonstrate need, willingness to partner, and ability to repay. 3. Maumee Valley Habitat for Humanity staff will evaluate your application to determine if criteria is met. 4. Staff will visit the home of eligible applicants to assess needed repairs. Photos will be taken to document the current condition of home. 5. The scope of work is defined by Habitat and agreed upon by both parties before an estimate is finalized. 6. Eligible projects are forwarded to our Home Repair Selection Committee to be considered for approval. 7. Homeowners will be informed if project is approved or denied. 8. A home repair contract agreement and promissory note is signed by the homeowner of approved projects. 9. The 10% project down payment is collected. 10. 2 partnering with home repair Families who wish to participate in the Maumee Valley Habitat for Humanity Home Repair Program must meet the selection criteria established by Habitat for Humanity International. The criteria includes: Need Families must provide evidence of how the repair would improve the health, safety, and/or quality of life of themselves, their families and their home. Additional general requirements include: home must be located in Lucas County homeowner(s) must be living in the home and the legal owner for at least one year provide copy of the deed homeowner(s) must intend to remain in the home for at least two years the overall condition of the home must be sound enough to justify the cost of the repair home must be insured provide proof of current insurance homeowner(s) cannot own additional properties homeowner(s) income must generally be between 25% and 60% of the Area Median Income (AMI) Ability to Repay- Families must meet specific income guidelines, have an acceptable credit record, and demonstrate the ability to repay a 0% interest loan for the cost of the materials necessary to complete the repair: homeowner(s) income must be steady, reliable, and documented; see list of acceptable documents below: List of Acceptable Documents Employment: paystubs from the last six months Social Security, SSI, VA, Disability: benefits award letter Annuity/Pension: award letter Child Support: printout from Lucas County Division of Child Support Services Alimony: divorce decree Food Stamps: printout from Jobs & Family Services AFDC/TANF/Cash Assistance: printout from Jobs & Family Services Household Size Minimum Annual Minimum Maximum Maximum Monthly Annual Monthly 1 $11,775 $981 $28,260 $2,355 2 $13,450 $1,121 $32,280 $2,690 3 $15,125 $1,260 $36,300 $3,025 4 $16,800 $1,400 $40,320 $3,360 5 $18,150 $1,513 $43,560 $3,630 6 $19,500 $1,625 $46,800 $3,900 Willingness to Partner- Families must be willing to partner with Maumee Valley Habitat for Humanity by fulfilling required sweat equity or volunteer hours. Exceptions must be discussed with Maumee Valley Habitat for Humanity before work begins. Allow volunteers to use my bathroom, provide drinking water, and use my home as emergency shelter in severe weather. Grant permission for volunteers to help with the home repairs. Ensure that the exterior and interior areas to be repaired will be clean of all debris and any objects that may interfere with the repairs. Offer a helping hand in my community. I authorize Maumee Valley Habitat for Humanity and its representatives to also release protected information, regarding this application, to the following person: (leave blank if not interested in this option).
