Card authorisations Some merchants may check if there are sufficient funds in the HSBC Business Transaction Account to finalise a payment, in particular car rental companies or hotels. They will send an authorisation to HSBC, and, on approval, some of the HSBC Business Transaction Account balance is placed on hold for the future transaction to be settled against. This means that the available balance and current balance in your HSBC Business Transaction Account may be different until the transaction is finalised. Please note that card authorisations may hold funds until the transaction is settled, for up to 8 days. If the transaction is settled after this point, the funds will be debited from the account. Please ensure that there are always sufficient funds in the account to prevent the account entering a negative balance. The current balance is the amount that may include card authorisations waiting to be processed or cheques waiting to be cleared. Overdraft facility Your HSBC Business Transaction Account may have an overdraft facility attached. HSBC Business Visa Debit Card transactions will use this overdraft facility if there are insufficient available funds in the account. The overdraft value will be included in the account s Available Balance when determining if there are sufficient funds in the HSBC Business Transaction Account.
