However, you will need to be a tertiary student currently studying in any of the above tertiary institutions. 4. I currently hold a Credit Card which has a minimum annual income requirement. Can I still apply for the evibes Card? No, you will not be eligible to apply for the evibes Card if you are the Principal Cardmember of a Credit Card which has a minimum annual income requirement. For your lifestyle needs, you may wish to consider our suite of Credit Cards here. 5. Do I need to terminate the evibes Card once I graduate from the tertiary institution and start working? Or upon reaching 30 years old? You will be invited to upgrade to a Credit Card with a minimum annual income requirement after your graduation. Nonetheless, you can still use the evibes Card when you start working or upon reaching 30 years old.
6. What is the credit limit for my evibes Card? The credit limit for the evibes Card is set at S$500. If you spend beyond the credit limit of S$500, further purchases using the Card will be declined until payment is received. 7. Do I need to have a Maybank savings account to apply for the evibes Card? No. You do not need to have a Maybank savings account in order to apply for evibes Card. 8. Is the evibes Card a Debit Card? What is the difference between a Maybank Debit Card and Credit Card? No. evibes is not a Debit Card, it is a Credit Card. When you use your evibes Card (Credit Card), you are paying by credit and you will enjoy interest-free repayment period of up to 20 days. When you use your Maybank Debit Card, the purchase amount will be deducted immediately from the savings account linked to your Debit Card. Payments 9. What is the repayment grace period? It is 20 calendar days from the date of your Statement. 10. What is the minimum monthly repayment amount? It is set at 3% of the current balance or S$20, whichever is higher. 11. How do I make the payment? We have multiple payment channels for you to make your payments, including cheques, Interbank GIRO, Maybank2u.com.sg (Online Banking), Maybank Branches, Cash Deposit Machines at Maybank Branches, AXS Stations and S.A.M. island-wide. Fees and Charges 12. How much do I have to pay for the Quarterly Service Fee? The Quarterly Service Fee of S$5 will be waived for the first 2 years. Thereafter, it will be waived if a minimum of one transaction is made on your Card every 3 months. 13. Are there any charges for late payment? Yes, there will be a late fee of 5% on the minimum monthly repayment due or S$50, whichever is higher. Interest rate charges of 24% p.a. on outstanding balances will also be imposed until full payment is received. 14. Can I enjoy cash advance? Yes, cash advance facility is available to evibes Cardmembers. There is a cash advance fee of 5% on the amount transferred or S$15, whichever is higher. Please note that there will be no interest-free grace period provided for the cash advance facility. Finance charges at 2% per month, calculated on a daily basis from the date of transaction to date of full repayment will also be incurred.
What you should know about Credit Cards 15. What is a Credit Card? A Credit Card is a form of borrowing. It allows you to buy goods and services without using cash, that is, on credit. A Credit Card therefore is a convenient payment instrument and not intended to be a long-term credit facility. You can apply for a Credit Card from a Card issuer (usually a bank) and if your application is accepted, a Card will be issued to you with a credit limit. 16. When can I use it? You can use your evibes Card locally and overseas in establishments that displays the VISA logo. When you make a purchase with your evibes Card, you have to sign the sales slip. The merchant keeps a copy and provides another copy for your records. Maybank pays the merchant and then collects the sum from you in a bill that totals your purchases for a period, usually a month. You can also use your evibes Card to make purchases online. However, be vigilant about your online retail choices and shop only at online stores that you know and trust. Always print the invoice slip or confirmation page after completing your online purchases and verify the amount billed to you in your monthly statement. Do note that when you use your evibes Card to purchase a package of services from a merchant, you are required to continue to make your Card payments for those purchases even if the merchant closes down before you have fully utilized the services. This is because once you have signed the sales slip, Maybank would have paid the merchant in full. 17. Understanding the monthly statement. Maybank will send a monthly statement to your address (which you have provided upon application) detailing all the purchases you have made with your evibes Card during the month. It is important to check your monthly statement carefully and inform Maybank promptly if there are any discrepancies or if any clarification is required. Do also take note of the following in your monthly statement: a. Statement Date This is the date the statement was issued. All transactions recorded between this statement date and the last statement date will appear on this statement. b. Payment Due Date This is the date by which you should pay your Credit Card bill without incurring a late payment charge. You have the option to pay the bill in full, or make a partial payment subject to a minimum sum.
c. Amount Due The amount due denotes the outstanding balance you charged to your Credit Card. Maybank does not charge interest if the outstanding balance shown on the monthly Card statement is paid up in full by the payment due date. In other words, if you pay up your Credit Card bill in full by the payment due date, you will enjoy interest-free use of credit for your purchases. If you do not pay the outstanding balance in full by the payment due date (that is, if you make only a partial payment), you will incur interest charges on the unpaid balance. Hence, it is advisable to settle your Credit Card bills promptly and in full if you want to enjoy the use of interest-free credit for your purchases. d. Minimum Sum You can pay the minimum of S$20 (or 3% of your outstanding balance, whichever is higher). If you cannot pay the bill in full, you should at least pay the minimum sum by the payment due date and rollover the balance. Note that when this happens, you lose your entitlement to interest-free credit for your current purchases as well as all subsequent purchases. If payment is not made in full by the Payment Due Date, finance charges will be calculated on a daily basis on the outstanding balance/transactions from the Posting Date, and on all new transactions from the Posting Date to the day payment is made in full. e. Late Payment Charge If full or partial payment is not made by the payment due date, a late payment charge of 5% of the minimum monthly repayment (or S$50, whichever is higher) would be levied. f. Interest Charge As explained in sub-paragraph (d) above, if the outstanding balance is not paid up in full by the payment due date (i.e. if you make only a partial payment), you lose your entitlement to interest-free credit for your current purchases as well as all subsequent purchases. Interest rate of 24% p.a. will be levied on the outstanding balance. New purchases made after the statement date will also attract interest immediately. For cash advances, interest will be charged from the date the withdrawal takes place. g. Transactions in Foreign Currency You may use the evibes Card outside Singapore for Cash Advances from ATMs carrying the Plus logo. When you use the evibes Card outside Singapore, Card Transactions in foreign currencies other than US Dollars will be converted into US Dollars before being
converted into Singapore Dollars. Card Transactions in US Dollars shall be converted to Singapore Dollars on the date of conversion. All conversions are subject to such exchange rate at such time as may be determined by the Card Association(s), Visa International Service Association at its absolute discretion. The conversion rate applied is based on the Posting Date of the Card Transaction to the Card Account. The Bank shall charge the Cardmember the converted amount and the administrative fee of 1.25% of the said amount (or such fee as the Bank may determine from time to time). The Bank may charge, credit and debit, as may be appropriate, all sums payable to the Bank under the Credit Card Agreement to the Card Account. 18. What if I have problems paying my outstanding Credit Card bills? Non-repayment(s) or overdue repayment(s) of Credit Card bills will be reflected in your credit report and could adversely affect your application when you apply for a new loan. A credit report contains records of an individual s credit payment history (including bankruptcy records) and is issued by a credit bureau gazetted by the Monetary Authority of Singapore to members of the credit bureau when they make enquires about an individual applying for credit. A credit report that shows defaults or late payments even 30 days late - might lower your chances of getting a loan or require you to pay a higher interest rate for a loan. You can take the following steps if you have problems managing your debt: Contact your creditors immediately and request to work out a payment plan that can help reduce your payments to manageable levels Pay off high interest rates debts first Transfer debts with high interest rates to cheaper alternatives Reduce Credit Card expenses and cash advances Others 19. What happens if my Card is lost or stolen? You should call our Customer Relationship Executives at 1800-MAYBANK ( ) or (65) (Overseas) immediately. You will be subjected to a limited liability amount, capped at a maximum of S$100, provided that you are not fraudulent or negligent in safeguarding your Card and PIN and that you take responsible actions by reporting the loss of your Card to the Bank immediately.
