3 Major Wins of the Year JAN Jubilee USA was a key leader in the fight to preserve a critical anti-corruption law, the bipartisan Cardin-Lugar Amendment. JULY We helped introduce bipartisan legislation in the House and Senate targeting anonymous shell companies. APR MAY We stopped the Financial Choice Act, halting the bill in the Senate, which would remove consumer protections and global anti-corruption measures. Working with Republican and Democratic leadership we crafted, moved and won legislation to stop vulture funds, prevent austerity and create a comprehensive bankruptcy process to restructure all of Puerto Rico s debt. SEPT OCT As the devastating hurricanes swept the Caribbean, Jubilee USA started a movement calling on Congress, the White House, the IMF and the World Bank to act by providing aid and debt relief. Jubilee USA partnered with Brigham Young University s Anti-Human Trafficking Club to host an event highlighting the links between human trafficking and shell companies. JUNE Jubilee USA successfully pushed the White House and G20 nations to endorse the Operational Guidelines for Sustainable Financing. NOV Jubilee USA Board Members traveled to Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands to prepare a report for Congress, to help push them to treat the islands equitably and put an end to the suffering there.

4 Standing up for Hurricane victims When the devastating hurricanes struck, our team sprang into action and coordinated major religious leaders in the U.S. and affected islands to contact the White House, International Monetary Fund and Congress. We collected thousands of petitions and were quoted in newspapers around the globe. Eric appeared on CNBC and addressed the United Nations calling for relief. In November, we sent a delegation to Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands to prepare a report for Congress and hosted religious Above: A child in Puerto Rico waits for aid in the remains of his devastated home after the hurricanes leaders from affected U.S. Territories to speak to Congress on recovery aid, debt relief and financing the needs of their communities. Earlier this year Jubilee USA won a super bankruptcy process for Puerto Rico, the first process that deals with all debt since 1953 when Germany s debt was forgiven. The process we won takes into account the hurricane damage to secure additional debt relief for Puerto Rico.

The Panama Papers and now the Paradise Papers underscore how financial secrecy and shell companies Winning Transparency For almost a decade, Jubilee USA consistently campaigned for global public budget transparency and accountability in lending and borrowing. Responsible lending and borrowing is essential to protect poor countries, stop predatory behavior and prevent debt crises.
