2 X-Charge Feature We have been made aware of new standards regarding the storing and processing of credit card information. In response to these new standards, Donation Tracker will no longer store credit card numbers. Information about the new credit card standards: Visa: Wikipedia: What does this mean to me as a Donation Tracker user? Once you ve updated to this latest version Donation Tracker, the program will only allow you to store the last 4 digits of a credit card number. If you would like to track the entire number, you will have the option to enter the credit card number directly into a PA-DSS/PCI-DSS compliant application that will be running in conjunction with our product. This will apply to all credit card pledges and payments. But I need that credit card number because my donor wants to be charged in installments. No problem. We ve teamed up with X-Charge, a company that provides secure on-line credit card processing. Once you set up a merchant account with X-Charge, you will be able to archive the credit card number for installment charges over time and not worry about someone hacking into your Donation Tracker database (or even stealing your computer) and pirating this sensitive information. X-Charge's credit card processing functionality is fully integrated into Donation Tracker, and will appear as a normal part of data entry. What if I want to use another credit card processor? You may continue to use your current credit card processing provider. Information as to whether the charge was approved and the approval number can be stored in Donation Tracker; however, Donation Tracker is currently designed to integrate with X-Charge only. What's the cost to me? X-Charge has very competitive rates when compared to other credit card processors. You would first need to set up a merchant account directly though X-Charge and your transaction fee will be based on your type of business and volume of transactions. You could potentially SAVE money over your current credit card processor. There is a reasonable onetime setup fee to activate X-Charge within Donation Tracker. 3 Donation Tracker Accounting Software Interface A module is now available that can take pledge and payment information you ve entered into Donation Tracker and import it into QuickBooks. Which version(s) of QuickBooks does the Accounting Interface work with? QuickBooks 2004 and newer Is there a cost involved? Yes, there is a reasonable initial purchase cost along with a small annual support fee. We felt it was unfair to raise the support costs for all of our customers in order to cover the cost of its development and continued support, so only United Ways that purchase the Accounting Software Interface will be charged. 4 Changes Payment Fields Payment fields have been added and rearranged to accommodate for the new X-Charge feature. Below is an example of the fields in Payment Wizard when entering a Charge payment. It compares older versions of Donation Tracker to the new one showing both with and without the X-Charge feature installed. 5 Envelope Wizard On the Payroll Liability Information screen, if a firm has a parent firm then the Payroll Liability will default to the Parent Firm instead of the Envelope Owner. Backup No more tranlog.dat file - The database upgrade moved all of the information contained in the tranlog.dat file into your Donation Tracker database file (dt2k.dat). If you had specifically been backing up the tranlog.dat file you will no longer need to because 1) ALL of your Donation Tracker data is now located in the dt2k.dat file and 2) the tranlog.dat file no longer exists.
