1 Application for extension of residence permit Instructions For the extension of your residence permit you will need to do the following: 1) You need to complete the digital Osiris application and upload the following documents: Antecedents Certificate (see appendix) A copy of your passport A copy of both sides of your current residence permit Proof of financial means (see below) Proof of health insurance If applicable: Official transcripts of all previous institutions in the Netherlands at which you have studied 2) Send or hand in hardcopy documents: After we have checked and approved your digital documents, please send the hardcopy versions (containing authentic stamps and signatures) of the financial documents and forms and the antecedents certificate to: Utrecht University Or you can hand them in at: International Office/Visa UU for U Student Services, P.O. We must have received the documents and payment at least two months prior to the expiry date of your current residence permit. The Visa office can only process your request if they receive all of the requested documents, and you have met the requirements for satisfactory academic progress (see download?token=k8wfz9jv) Financial Means The financial means you must prove to have at your disposal consist of two parts: 1) The tuition fee 2) Living expenses For the extension of your residence permit you must provide proof that you can cover both the tuition fee and your living expenses for the first 12 months of your enrolment. Below you can find an overview of the ways in which you can prove your financial means. 1) The tuition fee To prove you can cover the tuition fee you must hand in a recent bank statement or bank declaration (signed and stamped by the bank) of a Dutch bank account in your own name with the amount of the tuition fee in it. 2) Living expenses. The total amount you must prove to have at your disposal for living expenses for the first 12 months of your enrolment is ,-. (The required minimum monthly amount is 900,-)

2 Below is an overview of the documentation you can submit to meet the requirements regarding the proof for living expenses. NOTE: If you hold a Dutch bank account with the total amount of the tuition fee + living expenses in it, you can submit a recent bank statement of this account. Then you will have covered the proof of financial means. We cannot emphasize enough that the IND is very strict. If your documents do not meet the following requirements exactly, your application may be denied, or will at the very least be seriously delayed. Please note that it is possible to combine funds from A, B and C. A. If you have been awarded a scholarship, provide proof of the award We recommend that you use the Scholarship form (see appendix), as this meets all of the IND criteria. If you use an award letter instead, it must include the name and address of the organisation awarding the scholarship, your name, your date of birth, the exact study period (dd/mm/yyyy) to which the scholarship applies (e.g. from until ) and the exact amount of money that has been allocated. The letter must be signed and certified with a stamp of the organisation awarding the scholarship. B. If you rely on your own financial resources, provide one of the following documents: 1. A recent bank statement of an account in your name (a copy or the original) or 2. An original recent declaration from the bank or 3. A recent internet print-out of your bank account signed and certified with a stamp of the bank C. If you rely on financial sources from a sponsor outside the Netherlands (e.g. your parents), provide the following documents: 1a. A recent bank statement of an account in the sponsor s name (a copy or the original) or 1b. An original recent declaration from the bank. AND 2. A letter from the sponsor, confirming that he/she is willing to financially support you during your study period in the Netherlands. We recommend using the Financial Statement form (see appendix), or make sure all the information from this form is included in the letter. The period of sponsoring (e.g. from until ) must be the same as your period of study in the Netherlands, and the amount that will be transferred monthly to your account in the Netherlands must meet the minimum requirements for the intended study period AND 3. A copy of the identity card/passport of the sponsor IMPORTANT: Criteria for a bank statement or declaration from a bank The IND only accepts documents that meet the following criteria: - Original document; copies or internet print-outs are not accepted - Less than 2 months old - No indication there is a hold on the funds (e.g. no term / time deposits or share portfolio) - The balance must meet the minimum criteria AND contain all of the following 6 items: - Name and address of the bank - Currency - Name of the account holder - Balance - Account number - Date

3 Official transcripts (only for students not currently enrolled at Utrecht University) As you may know, Universities in the Netherlands are required to assess the academic progress of students with a residence permit for study purposes. Your academic progress at your previous institution can be an important indicator for your study success at Utrecht University. We therefore take your academic progress at previous Dutch institutions into account when evaluating your request for extension of your residence permit. We ask you to send us official transcripts of the previous study (or studies) you have undertaken in the Netherlands. An official transcript must be issued by the university at which you studied. The transcript or copy of the transcript must carry an original stamp and original signature of that university. The transcript must contain all the courses you have taken during your programme of study, with the results obtained and the number of credits per course.

I have not submitted any incorrect data during earlier residence procedures; I did not reside in the Netherlands illegally in the past; I am not subject to any entry ban.
